SOMEONE is happy with me...
Sep. 15th, 2009 05:05 pmI think I'm on Karma's good side or something.
This afternoon, I was working on my schedule for the semester (because people keep not coming to my office hours >.<), and looked up when my FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) exam was, to, yaknow, schedule it. So I found Larry (ME adviser)'s letter about registering for it and realized... I didn't do the online payment/registration, just the state application to Larry. Which means I'm not taking it. Which is a sad, because it's kind of a graduation requirement for the Mechanical Engineering department. And this is the last time it's offered before December.
BUT
I wrote to my adviser all in a panic that I wouldn't get to graduate, and went in to see him, and he told me to calm down, I could still graduate - in certain circumstances they allow you to substitute the GRE General (exam what you take to get into grad school) for the FE exam. So I am now all registered for that, which is a 4 hour exam instead of an 8 hour exam, and it's all on easycakes word recognition and basic math and stuff. Basicaly, the CSAP squared.
Even more awesome, is that a month or so ago, someone left a couple of boxes of stuff in the "take it or leave it" spot by the dumpsters which is generally known as where you can leave useful stuff in hopes that someone else wants it if you are too lazy to haul it down to goodwill. And we grabbed both boxes, as they were mostly full of really awesome kitchen stuff. But there were a few other things in there, including some text books. And a 800 pg study guide/ practice test book for the GRE General. I'd been trying to give it away to friends what were going into grad school with no luck. But now I need it! *cheers*
And I opened it up and the first question on the page I opened it to was along the lines of "which of these words is the oposite of 'laconic'". Which of course I know what it means, because I watch Firefly :p
And as per encouragement by my dad, I'm going to call the FE peoples tomorrow and just make sure that they can't wiggle me in somehow, but even if they can't, it's not the end of the world.
